Description: The client company is a major manufacturer of power magnetic products, serving a broad range of military, commercial and industrial applications. The scope of their power magnetic products includes the design and production of a wide range of dry-type power conversion units (transformers), as well as power conditioning and protection systems (line reactors and DC filter chokes, current limiting reactors, etc.), manufactured to both commercial and Mil specifications for extremely demanding environments.
Open Position: The company is seeking a Program Manager to provide the overall direction and management of development and production contracts, as well as all internal programs. Key elements of this position for each program include, but are not limited to: (a) the creation and adherence to an approved budget, (b) establish timelines for program/product development and monitor each critical point to ensure timely completion, (c) initiate corrective actions on any problem areas to bring program back on track, (d) interface with other functional departments [Engineering Services, Cost Accounting, etc.] whenever and wherever necessary, (e) coordinate the supply of all required materials and other resources, (f) provide management with periodic status reports of program development and costs, and (g) maintain a close relationship with contract clients. In summary, the successful candidate will be responsible internally for managing all three critical phases of each approved program: development phase / transition from preliminary design or prototype to production / actual production, and externally for meeting the agreed upon specifications of contracting clients
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Earn Value Metrics [EVM] is a position requirement. The successful candidate must also have demonstrated experience with managing programs over $1 million, and prior experience with Military contractors (known Defense companies), particularly those dealing with the Department of the Navy. Technical knowledge of power magnetic products is also a serious advantage.
Position Responsibilities: Primary duties and responsibilities of the Program Manager include - -
- With full authority, manage and direct all phases of each approved program from inception to completion
- After detailed customer needs analysis, participate in and coordinate the preparation of each program proposal
- Establish and monitor the program’s Master Plan and schedules, establishing all critical steps to completion. Takes necessary corrective actions to get tasks not meeting timeline dates back on schedule
- Oversee the development of design concepts and test criteria. In conjunction with Purchasing, review/approve all vendors of critical materials for costs and delivery performance
- Direct the integration of a Program Team, which typically includes Purchasing, Engineering, Qualify Assurance, Financial and Administrative personnel
- Establish and maintain contacts to ensure conformance to requirements.
- Direct the administration of contracts and closely interface with contracted clients
- Has full program P&L responsibility, which typically includes budget control, actual costs and/or revised estimates to completion, invoicing and receivables
Minimum Requirements and/or Qualifications: Other than the Basic Requirements, as well as the knowledge and experience to perform the Position Responsibilities stated above, the follow minimum qualifications include - -
- BS in Electrical Engineering; Master degree preferred
- Five (5) years experience in managing programs over $1 Million
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including: writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals,presenting information to groups of managers, clients, contract customers and the general public.
- Good analytical and reasoning abilities, including: the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations,the ability to deal with situations where limited standardization exists, as well as exercising good judgment in interpreting instructions that are furnished in oral, diagram and/or schedule form
- Excellent ability to interface with internal Manufacturing, Engineering and Management personnel.
- Demonstrated skills in interacting and communicating with contract clients
- Must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws
