Description: A major manufacturer of Dry-Type Transformers and other electrical equipment is seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer position. The successful candidate must have solid experience in designing all types of Reactors and Filters (e.g. AC Reactors [up to 3,000 Amps]: Line, Series, Shunt, Motor Starting, etc., and DC Reactors [up to 10,000 Amps]: Tuned for harmonic filtering, Chokes for ripple filtering, Inter-phase, etc.), as well as application knowledge of AC/DC drives. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Position Responsibilities: Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Quotations from Customer Inquiries:
- Work with customers to understand their requirements and develop specifications
- Contact customers for clarifications and/or enhancements, as needed
- Prepare draft design, if required, and estimate cost
Product Design to Meet Order Requirements:
- Engineer product design to meet customer requirements, including complete electrical responsibility for order
- Provide guidance to drafting and manufacturing
Product Development:
- Take leadership role on reactor development projects
- Provide innovative and cost effective solutions
- Design and prepare specifications for prototyping
- Test and provide guidance in testing new products
- Analyze test data and recommend course of action
- Prepare statistical/mathematical model for electrical performance
- Assist in selection of materials and prepare specifications of new materials
Technical Relationship with Customers:
- Work with customers to understand their applications and needs
- Assist in developing specifications
- Visit customer sites, as required
Minimum Requirements:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
- Five (5) years of reactor design and development experience
- Good practical knowledge of manufacturing
- Proven record of technical interface with customers
- Knowledge of finite analysis and Matlab is desirable
- Excellent computer skills required, including engineering software for design and development
Compensation: $60K to $75K, depending on experience
