Position Description:
Responsible for the technical leadership of the design of electronic controls for aerospace applications including definition of detailed design tasks; technical oversight of team members; coordination between company disciplines; compliance to industry and company design standards; and performance to program requirements, schedule and cost targets.
Provide the Integrated Product Development Team (IPT) with task level data to which will be used to establish the detailed product design and development plans
Identify potential risk items and possible mitigation actions and communicate them to the IPT
Provide the IPT with the design task cost estimates and required related capital
Provide the IPT with the design task accomplishment values for EV measurement
Execute the assigned design and development plan within the allotted schedule and budget constraints of the project per the functional discipline standard work
Ensure that all applicable Customer and functional derived requirements are met, verified and traceable
Participate in the execution of the product verification plan that confirms that the performance, operation, control and environmental requirements are met
Complete the appropriate design control documentation and approvals needed to close all associated standard work
Drive technical issues to closure and respond to assigned action items
Ensure that component is economically and functionally repairable
Determine need for peer and management reviews
Plan design resources necessary to execute the program.
Establish design definition modeling approach.
Review component specification requirements and/or ICD for approach compatibility with requirements.
Define component design.
Complete design calculations to substantiate the design. Consult lessons learned, design checklists or business unit historical references. Surface risks identified by lessons learned to IPT.
Conduct peer and management reviews.
Complete product documentation for capture in the program design index or records database faults
Support the investigation, analysis and corrective action for production issues and field returns, as assigned
Support applicable customer, partner and other lab and flight test activities as assigned
Capture applicable functional process turn-backs and lessons learned.
What you need to possess in order to be considered for the position:
BSEE or MSEE
7 to 10 years experience with the design of electronic controls for aerospace applications. An understanding of DO254 design requirements for complex hardware is preferred.
- Must have lead or project engineering experience/experience leading 2-5 engineers
- 5 + years of electronics experiences as it relates to circuits
- Previous electronics design experience at a Black Box or top assembly level
- Black Box experience or related such as radio or other auxillary related aircraft products
Salary: $80,000.00 to $115,000.00
